One Month | Scarlett + August

Christian is one month old!

At one month, Christian:

Weighs: 10 lbs

Loves:

Eating
Being held or in carrier at all times, napping on mama
His big brother and sissy—loves being awake and alert when they’re around so he can look at and listen to them
Goodnight Moon—likes looking at the pictures
Going on walks in the baby carrier (well mama mostly loves it, baby is always snoozing and snoring:)

Dislikes:

Being hungry (pretty much the only reason he cries other than when not being held),
Being on his back—prefers tummy or being slightly upright (doesn’t like snuggleme lounger but tolerates boppy lounger),
Being put down for longer than 10 minutes
Cold hands

Sleep: Still sleeps most of the day with longest wakeful periods typically (not always) being in morning when we first get up for the day, afternoon around the time Scarlett and August get home from school, and evenings before bed. Sleeps pretty well/predictably and goes right back down after nursing during the night (sometimes takes awhile to settle back down after his early morning feed and will grunt and thrash around for awhile before settling back down)

Nursing: Every 2 hours during the day on average, and 2-4 hours throughout the night

Activity/What’s New:

We haven’t done a ton of tummy time yet since he sleeps on his tummy on mama and really isn’t on his back that much, but is very active and strong when on his tummy—can lift his head and do mini pushups:) Also climbs up mama’s chest pecking when hungry:)
Is starting to focus more on faces and follow movement his eyes a bit more
Will grasp finger when you touch his hand
Laughs and smiles in his sleep and is starting to smile when awake too, usually when I talk to him in a high pitched voice:)
Will turn his head towards a voice
Makes a lot of cute sounds: baby elephant trumpets especially when taking him out of the baby carrier or anytime you move him abruptly while he’s sleeping, baby snores when going for walks in the carrier, belly laughs while napping, grunts like a little piglet after nursing sometimes (I think it’s maybe due to gas/digesting)
Love how he’ll be crying like it’s the end of the world and then you pick him up and his whole face and body just sighs with the cutest relief
Enjoys tooting;)
I love how when you kiss him on the cheeks he opens his mouth and turns towards you with a half smile
Is pretty easygoing when not hungry and being held
Started getting baby pimples around 2 weeks and still has them—tend to be worse in the morning and clear up as the day goes on
Has started to lose some hair up top, just like Scarlett and August around this time
Eyelashes are growing

Special Events;

His birthday!
Visitors this month: Gma and Poppy were there for his birthday!, Uncle Max, Aunt Kristy, Maeve & Adam, Aunt Lindsey
First ride in the car was at 2 weeks old to go to the midwife for 2-week checkup
First walk was the day before he turned 3 weeks old (weather was too cold before that)
Celebrated turning one month old by taking first official bath
