We had such a fun time celebrating our Bunny Rose turning 8 at Big Cedar Lodge! It was a short but sweet trip and made her birthday feel extra special. We can’t wait to go back!
Scarlett got her big birthday present the evening before we left:) When we arrived to the BCL registration building the kids immediately made themselves at home:) Lincoln logs! One of their favorite things about vacation—checking out the accommodations. They loved the idea of the loft but didn’t actually end up sleeping up there even though there were two perfect little twin beds just for them After dropping off our stuff at the cottage, we headed back out to Top of the Rock to do the golf cart tour through the Lost Canyon Cave and Nature Trail. This cave was so neat! So much beautiful scenery! A friend recommended this tour and I’m so glad we did it because most likely we would have overlooked it. August thoroughly enjoyed the various extinct animal fossils. We had an early dinner at the Buffalo Bar and enjoyed the beautiful views! They also do a nightly sunset ceremony where they play bagpipes and shoot off a cannon, but since we ate so early we didn’t want to hang around that long. After dinner we walked through the Ancient Ozark Natural History Museum. And then the kids did some putt putt which is included in your stay at Big Cedar. August started melting down towards the end of the course after a long day, so we called it an early night and headed back to the cottage. On the way home we spotted a nice little pool right by our cottage so we let the kids swim for a bit before bed. The next morning was Scarlett’s 8th birthday! It of course started with balloons! And birthday presents! Then we headed to breakfast so the birthday girl could have some waffles:) And pancakes for the boy! Quick stop for some Lincoln logs:) We were going to try Silver Dollar City but the kids were fine with just staying at Big Cedar and checking out Fun Mountain which had an arcade, bowling, bumper cars, etc. It also had some fast indoor slides! Bumper cars! And then bowling! We basically had Fun Mountain all to ourselves:) A little later we went to the Escape Reality Magic Show! We basically had a private show with only a few other people in attendance, so the kids got to participate in a good portion of the show! For Scarlett’s birthday dinner she requested to return to the Buffalo Bar. Unfortunately it was rainy so we couldn’t sit outside and the sunset ceremony was canceled for the evening. Uncle Matt and Molly called to wish Scarlett a happy birthday:) Scarlett chose strawberry shortcake in lieu of birthday cake, which was a good choice Make a wish! August liked the strawberry shortcake too:) August wanted to make sure I got a side view pic of the woolly mammoth. The next morning we stopped at Truman’s Cafe for a quick breakfast before heading home. It was chilly and cloudy so the kids were ready to call it a trip. We’ll call that a cinnamon loaf instead of roll;) Scarlett had a few more presents to open when we got home. That weekend we celebrated with family at Scarlett’s favorite restaurant, Uncle Julio’s. It’s always a party when Maeve’s around! Chocolate piñata!
We had so much fun celebrating our sweet Scarlett Rose turning 8! We love our baby girl so!
