Scarlett Rose is 6 years old!
At 6 years, Scarlett:
Weighs: 48 lbs
Measures: 48 inches (4 ft)
Loves:
- Her new puppy, Oscar
She carries him around everywhere and helps take good care of him
- The chickens! (especially Bally) She recently learned how to pick them up so now she constantly has a chicken in hand.
- Books, especially chapter books lately. Once her reading gets stronger and she can read her favorite books, I think that’s where you will find her most of the time:)
- Bear—she recently made him a woven blanket with the loom aunt Jessica sent her for Christmas (and it was the cutest thing ever)
- Taking random videos of herself and August (see montage below)
- Watching tv on the weekends and being in charge of the remote
- Being outside in nature: she absolutely loved going to our hiking group this past year and exploring in the woods.
- Swimming lessons—she did so much better being with kids her own age and skill level vs with August
- Gymnastics—basically anywhere where she can run and climb around like a monkey is good with her)
- Being silly and having an attentive audience:)
- Making new friends and having play dates
- Probably her most favorite thing is when August is going along with what she wants to do—when he’s being agreeable they will play for hours this way
- Loves all fruit and most veggies, anything you can put maple syrup on, “sghetti”, chicken/tomato/spinach pasta, pickles, and PBJ
Dislikes:
- Doing things without August (i.e. if he doesn’t want to go somewhere, she’ll say she’s not going either if August’s not going)
- When August gets more attention than her
- Getting Bear taken away for behavior
- When you tell her to stop doing something she’s not supposed to be doing
- Doesn’t like eating too many sweets because they bother her tummy
Scarlett Lately:
- Has her first loose tooth currently! She first noticed that her permanent tooth was growing in behind it before she realized it was wiggly.
- Some of her favorite phrases: “Don’t worry about it” “It doesn’t even matter” “Poopy butt”
- As mentioned in her birthday post, all of the sudden she seems like such a big kid—so tall, so smart, so mature seeming
- Can read simple books and is starting to recognize more words when I’m reading to her. Her phonemic awareness has really improved and she is starting to spell words on her own by writing the sounds she hears.
- Breezed through our kindergarten math program
- Can pretty much do everything independently and helps August with the things he still can’t do
- Going along with the above, likes to help herself to things without asking just because she can reach it herself (including climbing on the counters
) - Somehow listens less than she did at age 5;)
- She continues to be a very active, busy little girl with bumps and bruises and tangled hair and dirt under her nails—and really I wouldn’t have her any other way.
