The Allsups had another magical holiday season this year—I can’t believe it was Scarlett’s 6th and August’s 4th Christmas! While we missed some of our favorite traditions this year like breakfast with Santa and visiting Santa’s reindeer, we still had such fun celebrating the season all month long. The more relaxed, slower pace gave us a chance to really appreciate the season for what it truly means, and it felt all the more special. ❤️
A visit to the local tree lot is always the first event of Christmas! We went the day after we got back from our Florida trip. The kiddos helped pick the best tree! Watching the tree delivery men put up the tree. Once the tree arrives, it’s time to put up the decorations (many of which are from grandma Allsup❤️) Bernard the Elf always makes his appearance after the tree is up! This year he brought new Christmas pjs and a small tree for each of the kids to decorate and keep in their rooms. I believe this picture was taken by Scarlett. Finishing putting up the ornaments on the tree. Letters to Santa! The Elf also brought back our Christmas countdown calendar which has a fun Christmas activity to do each day—the gingerbread house is a favorite! Next year I think the kids will be big enough to each do their own:) Gingerbread play dough! Homemade hot cocoa—August was not really a fan (cacoa is not the same as cocoa apparently 😂) Unimpressed. Also unimpressed. (They did like the marshmallows though! 😂) Outdoor socially distanced Santa visit. A little awkward, but it worked for this year! The Elf brought us the cutest book called Tough Cookie about a gingerbread cookie. The book included a recipe in the back so we tried it out and it was a hit! I was shocked that they loved gingerbread. We used blackstrap molasses which is why they look a bit dark. One of our very favorite traditions, Garden Glow at MOBOT. This year grandma and poppy joined us! We also went to Brookdale Farms for some Christmas festivities. Not exactly Christmasy, but for school we celebrated the winter solstice by reading a story called Sun Bread and making our own sun bread to bring some sunshine to the darkest day of the year. Making paper snowflakes to hang in the window to bring the snow❄️ The kids watched a few of the Christmas classics. For school we learned about how Christmas is celebrated in Mexico, and made paper poinsettias. Cookie making day! Impromptu candlelit dinner when the power went out for a few hours. A tradition is for the kids to pick out a gift for each other. We went to the cutest little local shop with all sorts of treasures. August was disappointed. Scarlett, however, loved her little three wise men charm that August picked out for her. Cookie making continues! Peanut butter blossoms are our favorite Christmas cookie because they are perfect for the kids to help with and they are delicious! Christmas Eve night! Grandma and Poppy came over for a fun night of lasagna, games, and watching the live-stream church service. Getting cookies and milk for Santa and carrots for the reindeer. Christmas Eve tradition. Christmas morning! Testing out their new gear! Homemade pastry braid. Celebrating Christmas Day at Grandma & Poppy’s! Scarlett’s coat once belonged to Mama and Aunt Lindsey & Jessica:) We were so happy we got to spend Christmas with baby Maeve and her new puppy sister, Holly❤️ On Christmas night we went to the drive through lights at Santa’s Magical Kingdom in Jellystone Park, and then finished the night with stories under the stars:)
It was a very Merry Christmas with our sweet babies!🎄 🎅 ✨
