It’s been a week and we can officially say that August is potty trained! Similar to Scarlett, he started showing signs of potty readiness before his 2nd birthday, and it continued to increase over the last few months. He started asking to use the potty before bathtime a few months ago, so we got him his own potty with plans to potty train him soon—and he started requesting to use it pretty often before we decided to “officially” train him. Last Friday, we decided it was silly to put it off any longer because he was clearly ready. Just like with Scarlett (who was the same age, 27 months, when we trained her), we did the bare-butt method the first day to help him get the idea, and he had no accidents! The 2nd day we tried introducing undies, but after a few accidents, we decided to forego undies for a few more days. When we reintroduced them, he had a few small oopses (peed a little before catching himself) and then had a few days where he would become embarrassed about it and started getting upset about using the potty. Now, here we are a week later and he’s doing great! He still is wearing a diaper for nap/bedtime but he has been having mostly dry diapers when he wakes up so he may soon be able to transition to undies exclusively. We’re so proud of our big boy!
Awwwww so sweet-big boy
