Scarlett is 4 years old!

At 4, Scarlett:

Weighs/ Measures: 36 lbs (60%) 3ft 5in (89%)

Loves:

Bear
Books—loves fairytales, Arnold Lobel books (Frog and Toad, etc.), Disney books like Frozen, Beauty and the Beast, Coco, etc., and character books like Fancy Nancy, Olivia, Peppa Pig, Daniel Tiger, Pete the Cat, etc.
Watching shows (Peppa Pig, Daniel Tiger, Clifford, Berenstain Bears) and Disney movies
Pretend play—especially playing in her kitchen/playing restaurant, playing grocery store
Going to the park to slide, swing, climb, run and make new friends
Going for walks to see our horse friends
Peppa Pig
Potty talk, especially the phrase “poopy butt” which August has also adopted into his vernacular
Her best friend Anvi from preschool
Breakfast, pbj, spaghetti
Playing with her scooter
Telling August what to do
Bandaids – especially princess ones
Eating at store with Dada while Mama shops – gets treat after
Arts and crafts activities
Hide and seek
Dragging “baby” around to get in trouble

Dislikes:

When August doesn’t want to play what she wants
“I don’t like when August bites me” when asked what she doesn’t like
Doesn’t like to be told what to do
Picking out clothes/shoes without her consent
Being quarantined – time out
If she thinks she is doing something she’s allowed to and you tell her no she has a meltdown

Scarlett Lately:

Is SUCH a little person now—it’s so fun having conversations with her because she understands so much and has the best and silliest ideas and views about the world as she tries to make sense of it
Is very well-behaved for her teachers at school and dance and mature for her age
Questions EVERYTHING—“why” is by far her most used word
Loves making new friends at the park and going off to play with them instead of with mama and August
If she has tantrums, they are very short-lived—you can reason with her better now and she understands that certain actions have consequences
Is remorseful when she didn’t mean to do something (i.e. accidentally hurt someone or break something)
Her favorite thing in this world is when everyone is playing along with whatever her imagination has concocted up
Says “I can ___ because I’m four” all the time
Says funny things like “You darnit thing” and “It’s not your job to…” referencing Mama’s lectures, and random/silly things like: carrots grow in swimming pools, what if we ate eyeballs?, I couldn’t go right to sleep because Bear was talking to me (just a few examples from today)
Calm in mornings and after naps and hyper before bed and naps
Still calls August “Baby”
Still a good sleeper—August often wakes her up in the morning earlier than she would get up on her own. Naps have shortened to 1-2 hours instead of 2-3 hours.
Still a great eater!
