August is 23 months old! It is so hard to believe that he is now the same age Scarlett was when he was born, and even harder to believe that he will be 2 years old next month!
At 23 months, August:
Loves:
- Copying sissy
- Dancing & being silly
- Seeing other babies
- Play dough
- Books—current favorites are Mr. Brown Can Moo, Imogene’s Antlers, Brown Bear Brown Bear, and finding goldbug in Cars and Trucks and Things That Go
- Balls & balloons
- Seeing airplanes in the sky
- Running into the kitchen to see Dada after bath time
- Binks/wubby
- Waking up Sissy
- Helping cook/put away groceries
- Watching animal/nature shows
- Sliding down and climbing up
Dislikes:
- Getting hair washed
- Waking up from nap
- Trying to get him to go back to sleep when he wakes up too early in the morning
August Lately:
- His little personality comes out more and more each day—he is so expressive, silly, and cute
- Says more complex sentences up to about 5 words sometimes
- Can communicate wants/needs very clearly
- As his personality grows, his willingness to go along with whatever Scarlett says decreases—and Scarlett does not like this;)
- Wants to do more and more on his own “Do it!” he insists for things such as brushing his teeth, putting on/taking off his shoes, picking a diaper, drinking from a big cup, etc.
- He has always had a soft, sensitive side and recently got very weepy when mama sang “Stay Awake” from Mary Poppins—he also did this months ago when he heard a sad-sounding song on Charlotte’s Web—I have to admit it was super cute to see him affected by music like that at such a young age:)
- Increasingly testing his boundaries—sees how far he can get before there is some kind of consequence
- In addition to cauliflower, he has also started to like broccoli recently, hooray!
- Enjoys solo time with Mama and Dada when Scarlett goes to school and dance class.
Memories from August’s 23rd month:
