At 22 months, August:

Weighs: About 27 lbs

Teeth: 16 (two bottom canines halfway through)

Loves:

  • Play dough! He finally got his hands on some and will sit and play with it for an hour if we let him—it definitely came in handy on the plane & in restaurants while in AZ!
  • Babies—will yell and point “baby!” when he sees one
  • His wubba & binks (although in a few months it’ll be time to start breaking the habit)
  • Seeing animals outside—birds, horses, deer, dogs—doesn’t matter which, he gets equally excited
  • Foods: cauliflower, shrimp, avocado, blueberries, mac & cheese, spaghetti, cheese, yogurt, date rolls, “fancy” tuna casserole (rice, cod, bok choy, parmesan)
  • Books, balls, bubbles
  • Dancing (with or without music) & singing along to songs he knows
  • Meandering around
  • His snack cup
  • Being chased around the house by Dada – “come get me!”
  • Watching Superman flying and funny animal videos
  • Playing baseball with his caterpillar bat
  • Sliding

Dislikes:

  • Getting hair washed
  • Sharing mama
  • When sissy doesn’t share or takes something from him

August Lately:

  • Played in the snow for the first time!
  • Visited Arizona for the first time
  • Loves making observations aloud about the world around him such as pointing out when someone is crying, walking, sleeping, etc. Also still likes pointing and naming things like facial features, pointing out what belongs to who such as Mama/Dada/sissy/August’s water cups, and saying “sissy stinky” when Scarlett isn’t listening:)
  • Listens to Scarlett more than mama and dada—and also mimics her behavior (i.e. asking for a “big piece” of whatever food is being offered, asking for Mama when Dada comes to pick him up and vice versa, being particular about things such as what spoon he wants to use, etc)
  • Vocabulary and communication skills continue to increase—can answer simple questions pretty well (answers August when asked his name, lets us know his what he needs/wants, when something hurts/bothers him, what sissy did to him lol, answers clearly “yes” or “no”)
  • Can (mostly) count to 10
  • Finally dropped his morning nursing session (with some pushing from Mama)
  • Has become quite the fast runner, especially when on his way to do something he’s not supposed to or to escape sissy:)

Memories from August’s 22nd month (minus the AZ pictures):

Spending a cold rainy day at Myseum. It was our second time there and we will definitely visit again!
