We had such a great time during our winter getaway to Arizona. Our timing couldn’t have been better with record-breaking lows back in St. Louis. Both babies have reached a pretty easy age for traveling which made for a somewhat more relaxing trip than trips past:) Here are some of our adventures from the past week!
Scarlett was super pumped about having her own suitcase:)
Getting out some wiggles before the 3.5 hour flight.
Our rental house had a big backyard to play in which was key since we didn’t have any toys to play with while we were at the house.
Nice mountain (and golf course) view.
The front yard had an orange tree!
Dinner at True Food Kitchen has become a tradition for our first night in Arizona.
On our first full AZ day, we visited Papago Park for the short hike to the top of the mini mountain. We took Scarlett here the last time we were here (and August was in mama’s tummy).
And then we went next door to the Phoenix Zoo! We spent most of our visit in the children’s zoo area where there was a play area and a small petting zoo.
Later that night we tried a new to us place called Farm & Craft. The kids were anxious to move around afterwards:)
We bought a pack of super balls at Walgreens—$2.99 for hours of entertainment:)
August got to eat up at the counter like a big boy every morning for breakfast:)
Next hike was at one of our favorites: McDowell Sonoran Preserve. While our hikes here are much shorter than they used to be, it’s still so nice to just enjoy the beautiful scenery.
Pancakes!
After breakfast each morning the kids were excited to go play outside. Thank goodness for sunshine and fresh air!
Taking a snoozle on the way to the park.
Geese!
Playtime!
Another park later that night before dinner.
The next day we took family pictures at the Desert Botanical Gardens (pictures coming soon). Afterwards we had lunch at Olive & Ivy, but there was a wait to sit outside and it just wasn’t the same sitting inside. The PBJ smoothie was still a hit, however:)
For dinner we went to a sushi place—the kids liked playing with the chopsticks, but that was about it.
After dinner we went back to the Desert Botanical Gardens to see the light show they put on on the mountain—it was really neat! Unfortunately, I forgot to take any pictures.
None of us were ready for this photo—August’s face is pretty hilarious.
The next morning we had brunch at our beloved Montelucia. We were a little sad not to stay there this time and enjoy the incredible views, but we knew we would be more comfortable in a house and we could still visit!
Getting some good karma from the spa crystal.
It was a rainy day so after brunch we headed to the Phoenix Children’s Museum. The kids had a BLAST!
Just doing some shopping.
Firing up some pizzas.
On Sunday night (aka Super Bowl Sunday) we went to Aunt Jeanine and Uncle Jim’s. The kids had their own little area to eat snacks, play with play dough, and watch kid movies instead of the boring football game:)
On our last day we visited the McCormick-Stillman Railroad Park to take a train ride, see a gigantic model train room, ride the carousel, and walk through an old train that five presidents had ridden back in the day.
A souvenir for Buddis!
Pizza at the famous Pizzeria Bianco.
On our last day we stopped at our new favorite AZ restaurant, Flower Child. We came here four times during our stay—we will miss it back home!
Time to go home! Hey, there’s Uncle Matt!
What a fun trip!
