Twenty-One Months

August is 21 months old!

At 21 months, August:

Loves:

Copying everything sissy does
Dancing (with or without music:)
Singing
Going to the park
Balls
Books
Binks
Pointing to and naming facial features
Pushing in mama’s cheeks with his hands to make a raspberry sound
Running out to the kitchen every night after bath time to see Dada “Hi Dada! Hi Dada!”
Be-bopping around the house
Date coconut rolls, olives, cauliflower, ketchup, cheese, and “yoyurt”

Dislikes:

Waking up from nap
Getting hair washed
Getting teeth brushed (he was doing better with hair/teeth but recently started fighting it again)

August Lately:

Got his very first haircut!
Can count to 3
Knows most of his colors & basic shapes
Likes to go up to strangers and pop his hip to the side —“posing” we call it (he also does his pose when caught doing something he shouldn’t)
Copies what sissy does, often bad habits such as demanding more before he’s finished
Big hugs with squeezes while saying “squeeeeze!”
When he’s in a silly mood he likes to dance around, do poses, and make silly faces
Preferences continue to increase about things, “No want dis” or “No like dis” he says when he doesn’t like something, and “Like it!” when he does
More demanding and gives orders such as “No, mama!” or “Mama, outside!”
Starting to test us more—keeps doing something we just told him not to with a stinky smile on his face
Verbalizes his needs/ wants a lot better: tells us when he’s thirsty, when something is hurting him, needs a diaper change, etc.
Sometimes will say thank you and please when asking for something
Tries singing along to songs, most recently O Holy Night (“Noel”), Moana, and Down By The Bay (Likes to randomly shout “Downabyathabay!” (a few extra syllables:)
