What a great time we had on this year’s Florida trip! Despite August coming down with Strep right before leaving, he pulled through (with the help of antibiotics, unfortunately:( and we were still able to make the trip. We had so much fun at Disney—visiting Magic Kingdom the first day and Animal Kingdom the second—before heading to The Villages for some quality time with Grandma and Poppy. We even snuck in Universal again this year before heading home!
First, here is a recap of the Disney half of our visit:
On our way!
Dinner at Sweet Tomatoes our first night in Orlando.
Bedtime stories in their Mickey and Minnie pjs!
Fueling up for the Magic Kingdom! Of course our “Mickey Mouse Pad” included a Mickey waffle maker:)
Dada! Dada! Breakfast! Breakfast!
August didn’t have much of an appetite but he appreciated the novelty I think;)
Waiting for the ferry boat to take us to Magic Kingdom.
Boat ride!
The best pic we could get at the entrance to the park.
Castle pics 🏰
Trying to get Scarlett to smile and look at me at the same time is not an easy feat.
In the Haunted Mansion 👻
Dumbo 🐘
Stopping to try to spot Minnie Mouse in the parade.
Under the Sea ride with the Little Mermaid! Scarlett said she liked the ride but did not like the part with Ursula the sea witch.
It’s A Small World next—Dada’s favorite ride;)
Trying to wait patiently for the carousel.
Back of Cinderella’s castle—August is trying his best to smile but you can still tell the poor guy wasn’t feeling 100% 🙁
They spotted some ducks in the castle moat:)
Teacups—last ride of the day. Dada tried to use August as an excuse not to go on even though I told him we weren’t going to spin it around, haha.
Last Magic Kingdom picture before heading home for nap:)
After nap we headed over to the a Contemporary hotel for dinner at Chef Mickey’s! Scarlett loved seeing Minnie, but was skeptical of the other characters, especially Goofy. August wanted nothing to do with the lot of them.
Keeping an eye on that Goofy…
Day 2: Animal Kingdom
Seeing some animals on the Kilimanjaro Safari. 🐘
Taking a little dance break:)
Tree of Life—so neat to see
Dinoland was a new-to-us part of the park that had a fun little playground called the Boneyard—so fun! We even ran into Pluto while playing.
Next we saw Finding Nemo the Musical—so cute!
And then lunch at the Rainforest Cafe before heading home for naptime.
After nap we headed back to Animal Kingdom for the Rivers of Light show (where August had an epic meltdown and mama had to take him up to a “private viewing area”—luckily the show was kind of meh so we didn’t miss much). And then we headed over to Africa for another character dining experience at Tusker House where Daisy Duck tried to shun us when we tried to get a picture before leaving (we had to go back to our table and wait for her).
Last Disney photo op.
Until next year, Mickey! We’ll see you real soon!
Stay tuned for the 2nd part of our trip visiting grandma and poppy at The Villages!
