August is 19 months old!
At 19 months, August:
Teeth: 12 ( 4 molars, 4 teeth on top, 3 on bottom, + 2 more top teeth on the way)
Loves:
- Climbing
- Balls
- Playing catch
- Being tickled and raspberried
- Bears
- Dogs
- Looking for the moon (and planes) every night before bed
- Books—especially animal books
- Running around and going crazy with sissy
- Trying to jump off things
- Looking out the window
- Airplanes, trucks, buses
- Bubbles
- Balloons
- Binks
- Eating
- “Nacks” (snacks)
- Pushing things around the house (especially the bathroom stool and laundry baskets)
- Getting pots and pans from the kitchen tonplay with
- Shape sorter
Dislikes:
- Getting his hair washed (screams until it’s over)
- Not always getting something that sissy has or doing something she is doing
- Thunderstorms
- Having to wait even a minute to eat when he’s hungry
What’s New:
- Has really taken off with his verbal skills lately—tries to say everything he sees and is stringing words together often. His pronunciation has also gotten a lot better—we can understand what he’s saying a lot better and he will attempt (and often say correctly) anything you tell him to
- Identifies when there is two of an object and will “count” objects by saying “two, two, two”
- Running
- Jumping
- Has started doing the “chicken wing” dance move that Scarlett has done since she was a baby too
- His silly sense of humor continues to develop
- Has a silly “swagger” walk he’ll do when just venturing around the house
- Has a “ready for action” stance—he’ll come around the corner and do this half squat, arms at the ready
- Does this silly fake laugh
- Understands better that he’s not supposed to hit or bite when he’s angry
- Can better communicate his wants/needs, likes/dislikes—for example, will sometimes put his hand over my mouth and say no when I’m singing to him:)
- Likes to pick out his own shoes and try to put them on by himself
- Knows exactly the things he’s not supposed to do so he does all those things and gives you a stinky smile while doing it
