Scarlett Lately:

  • She seems to really be enjoying preschool so far! She is excited to go each morning and has made a new friend named Anvi that she talks about a lot:) So far she is pretty good at telling me about her day and the first thing she always tells me about is what she had for snack 😆
  • All her bedtime animals, except Bear, have been put away one by one into her closet. She says Baby Bunny was giving Bear too much food which gave him a tummy ache so she has to stay in timeout indefinitely. Recently, her elephant blankie and elephant wubbanub (which no longer has a pacifier attached) were put in the closet for “taking the blankets off her when she’s trying to sleep”. I think Bear is behind all of this.
  • She doesn’t really have many “tantrums” but still gets upset easily, especially when you say she can’t have something or when she doesn’t want to share with August
  • She is starting to really love more complex and/or longer story books (some recent favorites include Owl Moon, The Lion The Witch and the Wardrobe, & Sylvester and the Magic Pebble)—she likes to read these longer books after August goes to bed
  • She loves to learn new things and asks a TON of questions (Why? Oh…why? Why does it do that? Why? repeat..)
  • She has energy to spare—lately she’s been walking to and from the park with mama and dada which is probably close to 2 miles
  • Makes some pretty funny faces and has a silly sense of humor
  • Still doesn’t really enjoy sharing toys with August, but she is a wonderful big sister to him and helps out a lot (I.e. getting his “bink” for him when he’s upset, sharing food with him (surprisingly), getting a clean diaper for him, showing him neat things that she’s excited about, etc.)
  • Some of her current favorites: pink, egg sandwiches, Tacky the Penguin & Moon Bear books, water play (splash pad, pool, water table), going to the park & library, listening to Disney movie soundtracks (Dumbo, Little Mermaid, Beauty & the Beast, etc) and “drumming songs”
  • Likes to talk in funny voices
  • Her eyes get really wide when she’s excited about something
  • Likes to gently pat and rub your face when talking to her before bedtime
  • Some of her favorite sayings: “What did that sound look like?” and “What does your breath smell like?” (after you’ve eaten something)
