At 16 Months, August:

Teeth: 6 + 2 top molars halfway through

Words: Mama, Dada, Bear, Bird, Bubble, Dog, Buddy, Bobo (Bodhi), Plane, Hi, Bye, Nigh-Nigh, Baa (sheep), truck (duck), Baby, Ball, Uh-oh, No, No-no, Love you (luh you), water (wawa), no more (no mo), roar (lion), eye, nose, mouth (mou), eww, banana (nana), bup (what he calls milk & pacifiers), flower, yeah, meow (cat), door, hot, ick, slide (ide), and more but it’s hard to remember everything he says at this point!

Loves:

  • Climbing anything he can
  • Going down (and climbing back up) slides
  • Looking out the window
  • Airplanes
  • Being outside
  • Stroller rides to the park
  • His snack cup
  • Simple puzzles and shape sorters
  • Balls
  • Books—especially loves books that have bears and dogs (Brown Bear What Do You See & Go, Dog, Go are still favorites)
  • Giving kissies
  • Pushing anything he can around the house (toy stroller, laundry basket, stool, etc)
  • Pointing to my facial features when holding him and naming them (eye, nose, mouth)
  • Downward dogging
  • Putting objects into containers and taking them back out
  • Gymboree
  • Being pushed around in the toy stroller or laundry basket
  • Remotes

Dislikes:

  • Cutting molars
  • When Scarlett doesn’t share or takes toys away from him
  • Being hungry
  • Not sharing your food with him or when he sees food and can’t have it (i.e. grocery store, when mama is cooking)
  • Being confined to the playroom—likes access to explore the whole house
  • Feeling like he’s missing out

What’s New:

  • Walks about 50% of the time right now—each day he walks a little more
  • His sense of humor comes out more each day—silly like his sissy
  • Likes to be given choices to pick from (books, toys, snacks, etc)
  • Gets frustrated that he can’t always tell you what he wants and also frustrated that he can’t do everything Scarlett can
  • Scared of thunder ever since fireworks scared him when people were shooting them off for the 4th
  • Answers no and yeah to questions
  • More oppositional lately and will really let you know when he doesn’t want to do something:)
  • Tries to “count” objects like he sees Scarlett do—points to objects one by one and counts using baby gibberish:)

Other Activity:

Sleeps from around 8:30pm until 8-8:30am usually waking once between 5-7am to nurse before going back to sleep for a few more hours. Takes a nap around 2pm that lasts until 4:30-5pm. Still nurses 3-4x/day upon waking i, before nap, and before bed.

Nicknames: Gorilly (hits chest and hoots like a gorilla), Goomy, Goom, Goomici, Goombo, Baybuh, Chubb
