August is 15 months old!
At fifteen months, August:
Weighs/Measures: 23 lbs (55th) 31 inches (36th)
Teeth: 6
Words: Dada, Mama, dog, “dig dog” (big dog), bye bye, hello, hi, nigh nigh (night night), baa (sheep), baby, ball, bear, wa-wa (water), plane, bir (bird), nana (banana), roar (lion), + various words he’ll say randomly
Loves:
- Climbing anything and everything he’s able to
- Throwing and playing with balls
- Cars—makes a cute “vroom” sound when playing
- Books—current favorite: Go, Dog, Go! by Dr. Seuss (August says “Dig dog!” (big dog) and points to the bookshelf for me to get it)
- Crawling in, up, and under stuff
- Gymboree
- Swinging and sliding at the park
- Having free reign to explore
- Playing rough
Dislikes:
- When sissy takes toys away or doesn’t share
- When you don’t share what you’re eating/drinking (just like someone else I know!)
- Getting dressed/changed
- Sitting still in the grocery cart (wants to grab everything and must be distracted with snacks:)
- Being confined to the playroom—likes to be free to explore the whole house
- Missing out—likes to be part of the action
- Fireworks
What’s New:
- Pushes up to standing from the floor unassisted
- Tries to mimic words and actions that you say/do more and more
- Can climb down from mama and Dada’s bed with assistance
- Can climb up and go down small slides by himself
- Dances, claps, nods head, and/or slaps his leg to the beat when listening to music
- Hums along with mama when singing to him before bed
- Fights back when sissy isn’t playing nice
- Has started to really test his boundaries—he knows exactly what things he’s not supposed to do and will go straight for those things while looking at mama/dada with a stinky grin on his face to see what we’ll do
Other Activity:
- Sleep: Goes to bed around 8:30pm and wakes up around 8-8:30am, waking once between 4-7am to nurse. Takes one afternoon nap, typically from 2-5pm or so.
- Still nurses 4x/day (before bed, early morning, upon waking, and before nap) and eats 3 meals—basically eats as much as Scarlett now and will eat most things, although mama has to sometimes sneak in veggies because he won’t always eat them by themselves
Nicknames: Goomy, Goom, Goomici, Meech, Hammy, Hamici, Gorilly, Chuuba, Baybuh, Goombo
Memories from August’s 15th month:
Lunch at Panera while waiting for the rain to pass so we could go to Grant’s Farm—we lucked out! It stopped raining once we got back there and didn’t start again until we left.
Finally made it to Grant’s Farm after a surprise downpour.
The rain made all the animals really active! I’ve never seen so many of the animals that up close before.
Carousel ride of course!
Will someone pull me please?
Having fun at grandma and poppy’s!
Dinner at Whole Foods, a weekly tradition these days.
What are you doing Thing 2?
Just hanging out.
Gymboree had a burst pipe so we made a detour to the Magic House!
Celebrating Father’s Day with some water play at grandma and poppy’s.
Splash pad at Apple Park (Jaycee Park).
Breakfast at Sunny Side Cafe in Wildwood before going to see our house!
We visited the Chesterfield Aquatic Center one afternoon after dada got off work—so much fun!
Suson Park with grandma and poppy!
Love seeing them starting to play together more:)
St. Louis Carousel at Faust Park
Uncle Matt, Aunt Kelli, Collin, & Molly came to babysit!
Taking sissy’s drink while she’s not looking.
Lunch at OR Juice & Smoothie in Clayton before the Zoo—all of St. Louis and the surrounding areas also went to the zoo that day so no pictures, we didn’t get to see that much because of the crowds.
Beetle buggy:)
All (3) of my babies👶🏼👧🏼🐶
Driving to Suson Park most likely (that’s where Scarlett always says she is driving to)
Sghetti face
First visit to Purina Farms! It was a bit of a drive so we’ll wait until after we move to visit again since we’ll be much closer.

If Scarlett is still sleeping after August wakes up from nap, he goes charging in her room to wake her up:) He wants to see his sissy!
Wapelhorst Water Park
Silly Goomy
Playdate at Elliot’s house
Quick stop at Fresh Thyme to pick up a few things—of course Scarlett insisted on the double seater that was as long as two carts put together;)
Taking the edge off post-nap.
Poor baybuh
Baby Ruth in his baseball pjs.
His face says it all “I know I’m not supposed to be up here but I’m going to do it anyway”
Very serious stuff
Day trip to Innsbrook for the 4th of July!
Dada took Scarlett to get a couple fireworks the day before and we shot them off before dinner. Neither baby was a fan of the loud sound, especially August (see 2nd photo)
That’s a big Lincoln Log
Trying out a new play place called Grandma’s Playroom—perfect for toddlers!
Happy boy!
