At fifteen months, August:

Weighs/Measures: 23 lbs (55th) 31 inches (36th)

Teeth: 6

Words: Dada, Mama, dog, “dig dog” (big dog), bye bye, hello, hi, nigh nigh (night night), baa (sheep), baby, ball, bear, wa-wa (water), plane, bir (bird), nana (banana), roar (lion), + various words he’ll say randomly

Loves:

  • Climbing anything and everything he’s able to
  • Throwing and playing with balls
  • Cars—makes a cute “vroom” sound when playing
  • Books—current favorite: Go, Dog, Go! by Dr. Seuss (August says “Dig dog!” (big dog) and points to the bookshelf for me to get it)
  • Crawling in, up, and under stuff
  • Gymboree
  • Swinging and sliding at the park
  • Having free reign to explore
  • Playing rough

Dislikes:

  • When sissy takes toys away or doesn’t share
  • When you don’t share what you’re eating/drinking (just like someone else I know!)
  • Getting dressed/changed
  • Sitting still in the grocery cart (wants to grab everything and must be distracted with snacks:)
  • Being confined to the playroom—likes to be free to explore the whole house
  • Missing out—likes to be part of the action
  • Fireworks

What’s New:

  • Pushes up to standing from the floor unassisted
  • Tries to mimic words and actions that you say/do more and more
  • Can climb down from mama and Dada’s bed with assistance
  • Can climb up and go down small slides by himself
  • Dances, claps, nods head, and/or slaps his leg to the beat when listening to music
  • Hums along with mama when singing to him before bed
  • Fights back when sissy isn’t playing nice
  • Has started to really test his boundaries—he knows exactly what things he’s not supposed to do and will go straight for those things while looking at mama/dada with a stinky grin on his face to see what we’ll do

Other Activity:

  • Sleep: Goes to bed around 8:30pm and wakes up around 8-8:30am, waking once between 4-7am to nurse. Takes one afternoon nap, typically from 2-5pm or so.
  • Still nurses 4x/day (before bed, early morning, upon waking, and before nap) and eats 3 meals—basically eats as much as Scarlett now and will eat most things, although mama has to sometimes sneak in veggies because he won’t always eat them by themselves

Nicknames: Goomy, Goom, Goomici, Meech, Hammy, Hamici, Gorilly, Chuuba, Baybuh, Goombo

Memories from August’s 15th month:

Lunch at Panera while waiting for the rain to pass so we could go to Grant’s Farm—we lucked out! It stopped raining once we got back there and didn’t start again until we left.
