August is 3 months old!

At 3 months, August:

Weighs/Measures: Won’t know until 4 month checkup

Loves:

• Eating
• Sleeping (hopefully this is always true!)
• Bathtime (although he slept through his most recent bath:)
• The Ergo baby carrier
• Putting hands in mouth
• Batting at the animals on his play mat
• Sucking his thumbie—he finally found it this past week and has since been putting it in his mouth all the time
• Being sung to
• Dancing with mama
• Looking at the pictures when mama reads to him
• Looking to see what his sissy is up to
• Cooing, Gooing, and Giggling
• Blowing bubbies
• Kissies
• Seeing himself in the mirror

Dislikes:

• Tummy time after a few minutes
• His car seat unless he is in the car and it’s moving
• Wet diaper (although oftentimes it doesn’t really bother him)
• Being tired
• When sissy wakes him when he’s napping

Nursing: Nurses approximately every 2 hours during the day for 10 minutes or less.

Sleep: Takes about 4-5 naps throughout the day, most of them lasting 30-60 minutes with one longer one, usually in the afternoon when Scarlett is napping. Falls asleep around 8:30-9pm (if awake during this time, reads books with Scarlett & mama) and then mama gets him ready for bed around 10pm, nurses him, and puts him to sleep in his bassinet (gets a bath every 4 days or so). He usually sleeps 7-9 hours before waking to nurse, then goes back to sleep until between 8-9am typically.

Other Activity:

• Has good head control and lifts head when being held, and when on tummy for short periods.
• Puts weight on feet well when held in a standing position
• Can do a mini push-up when on tummy
• Is starting to move around more when on his play mat–he really kicks and waves his arms around and often moves his body in a circle.
• Requires more entertainment these days and especially likes being read to, watching Scarlett, dancing with mama, and playing on his play mat.
• Focuses on people/objects a lot more and turns his head when he hears a familiar voice; can spot mama from across the room and follows me with his gaze; can switch focus from person to person quicker
• Laughs and smiles a lot
• Is happy most of the time, and if he does get upset he is easy to calm
• We think he has started teething, as he loves putting his hands, thumbs, and any object he can get ahold of in his mouth
• Still has a blocked tear duct in left eye but is getting better
