One Month

August is one month old today!

At one month, August:

Weighs: 11 lbs 6 oz (88th percentile)

Measures: 22 inches (76th percentile)

Loves:

Milk
Being bounced slowly up and down on a slight incline with one hand supporting his head and the other under his bottom
Bathtime
Being naked–really moves arms and legs around when getting diaper changed
His ellie pacifier (sometimes)
Being on his tummy
Looking at the ceiling fan
Being in the baby carrier close to mama
Pink noise
Being held

Dislikes:

Having an upset tummy (gas)
Mamaroo (so far)
Being hungry
When you first put him in the car seat (usually calms down pretty fast)
Being put down for too long

Sleep: Still sleeping most of the day with a few wakeful periods of about an hour here and there. Usually has longest wakeful periods in the morning and evenings lasting a few hours. Sleeps in 2-4 hour stretches at night.

Nursing: Every 1-2 hours or so, sometimes more frequently in the morning and evening (which coincides with his longer wakeful periods). At night, mama nurses him before bed around 11:30 and then he wakes every 2-4 hours to eat/change diaper. Most the time he goes right back down, but sometimes he requires some more burping/rocking/extra milk before settling back down.

Activity:

Enjoys tummy time and can lift head for short periods
Very strong! Rolled from back to tummy at 2 weeks (it was a fluke, but the boy has some strength!) Really have to be careful holding him because he can really jerk himself around
Makes a lot of different baby sounds ranging from velociraptor, baby elephant, old man snore, baby chick, and cooing “ah-goo” and a cute little sigh he does sometimes after sneezing “ahhh”
Can focus on an object and follow it with his eyes
A little colicky in the evenings the past two weeks, but tummy drops seem to help
Smiles a lot while sleeping and even sometimes when awake
Can bat at the animals on his playmat

Nicknames: Baby Bear, Baby B, Baby Ellie (because of the elephant sound he makes), Chuub #2, Baybuh (what big sissy says), Little Prince
