Scarlett is 23 months old!
At 23 months, Scarlett:
Weighs: 27 lbs
Loves:
- Stuffed animals (Bear, Bab, Meow, Baby Bunny, Mama Bunny, Dada Bunny, and “Nail” (snail) most of all)
- Putting different toys/objects in various containers (laundry basket, elephant backpack, diaper bag, etc)
- Picture books>story books–lately would rather look through her ABC books, lift-the-flap books, etc. than listen to a story
- Twist and Shout by The Beatles
- Dancing to her favorite songs (especially the above song)
- Singing along to songs
- Swinging
- Going to grandma and poppy’s house
- The word “ok”
- Playing with playdough
- Helping mama bake
- Jumping on the bed to No More Monkeys & hide and seek with dada
Dislikes:
- Diaper changes at times
- Not getting her way
- When mama/dada leave the room without first giving her a kissie/huggie
What’s New:
- This was one of Bunny’s more challenging months. She has been more easily upset and has cried more often over little things. She went through a period of about two weeks where she was having trouble settling for bedtime/naptime and wanted extra hugs/kisses and to be held and rocked before going down. She has also had some increased separation anxiety for both mama and dada. Not sure if her change in behavior is due to her sensing the big change coming, or her approaching the “terrible twos”, or a combination.
- Vocabulary and language skills continues to increase almost daily: says up to 5 word sentences, asks and answers her own questions, has good pronunciation of basic words and will attempt any word you ask her to, good expression/intonation
- Continues to want to do more things on her own (says “You do it” which means she wants to do it) i.e. brush her teeth/hair, help get dressed, walk instead of being carried, “read” her books, etc.
- More demanding and preferential, for example asking for the pink bib instead of the green, wanting a bow instead of a ponytail, saying “no song” when she doesn’t like a song and requesting one she likes, wanting dada to change her instead of mama, etc.
- Can count to 6
- Can recite the alphabet up to about G, and then bits and pieces of the rest
- Can identify the correct letter for the pictures on her abc puzzle (B for book, etc)
Memories from Scarlett’s 23rd month:
Going to the zoo, zoo, zoo, how about you, you, you?

First time playing in the snow! There wasn’t much, but we had to take advantage of the last (and basically only) snow before spring.
Helping mama make muffins (muffies).

The playdough was a huge hit with Bunny!
Stopped at the butterfly house after mama’s doctor appointment. Bunny was very wary of the butterflies this time. Afterwards we swung for a bit then went to breadco for lunch.
