Scarlett Rose is 22 months old!
At 22 months, Scarlett…
Weighs: Approximately 26 lbs
Teeth: Still 16, but I think she’s working on some molars
Loves:
- Stuffed animals. Current squad: Bear, Meow, Bab, Snail (“nail”), Puppy, Mama Bunny, Dada Bunny, & Baby Bunny. These friends must all be brought to her in the morning before she can start her day:)
- Books. Current favorites: The Cat in the Hat, Go Dog Go!, Hop on Pop, Bears’ Picnic, Where’s Spot?, Bunny puzzle book, The Little Elephant Who Lost His Bath
- Somersaulting
- Laundry basket choo-choo rides
- Dancing on her chair or stool to her favorite songs. Current favorites: Sugarpie Honeybunch, Spider on the Floor, Twist and Shout, Wheels on the Bus, Wooly Bully
- Dress up! It started months ago with putting on mama’s shirts and purses, but she now also loves putting on jewelry (a favorite pastime at grandma’s house), headbands, different socks, and her sparkly sequin skirt–I’m sure if mama bought her some actual dress up stuff, she would be in heaven!
- Singing along to songs
- Going up and down stairs (with help)–a favorite pastime at grandma and poppi’s house
Dislikes:
- If you try to leave to go do something without giving her a kissie or huggie first
- When mama goes to the bathroom or gets dressed without letting her come in first (will cry at the door)
- Getting diaper changed sometimes
What’s New:
- Tantrums have been more rare this past month
- Tries to negotiate to put off things such as nap (“Play a bit, ok”) and bedtime (“Last book, ok”)
- Will playfully stall when trying to get her to do many things such as go somewhere, change her diaper, take a nap, etc
- Has mastered the art of somersaulting, and loves doing it over and over
- Loves to have things repeated (songs, silly things mama/dada does, activities, etc) and “Again!” has become one of her favorite words
- Requires a hug & kiss before you leave to do anything
- Not really new, but just more pronounced these days: Loves to make observations about the world around her. For example, will point out the actions of people she sees (walking, sleeping, sitting, etc); comments on what mama/dada is wearing (purple pants, gray shirt, etc); points out what belongs to who (i.e. “Mama’s water, dada’s water, Scarlett’s water”); comments on all the things she sees while we’re out walking–the list goes on and on
- Also not new, but more pronounced: is very intuitive and aware of others’ feelings for someone so young–will point out when mama/dada appears sad, mad, or happy; shows concern when others are upset; is very remorseful if she hurts you on accident while playing or when she does something she knows she shouldn’t (will say “sorsy” and give you a kissie); is kind to other kids and appears confused when they aren’t kind back
Memories from Scarlett’s 22nd month:
Storytime! Scarlett started participating in the “If You’re Ready for a Story Clap Your Hands” song this past month, and it’s the cutest thing ever:)
I’m pretty sure her favorite part about story time is playing with the stuffed animals that are by the children’s books.
At the park after a hurt leg scare that morning. Obviously she was more than fine;)
Our weekly visit to see the bunnies at the farm.
Helping mama make Valentine’s Day muffins.
Scarlett’s 2nd Valentine’s Day started with a crib full of heart balloons:)
Followed by strawberry heart muffins for breakfast.
After breakfast, Scarlett opened her valentine from mama and dada.
Then she brought her balloons into the playroom.
Next, we did a little photoshoot wearing her new outfit from grandma and poppi.
Making valentines for grandma, poppi, and dada.
She was excited to give dada his valentine❤
For dinner we met grandma and poppi at Peel and Scarlett gave them their valentine.
Baby Bunny in her old stomping grounds:) I wonder how she’ll take it when she can no longer play in there when baby brother comes along.
Scarlett’s first visit to the Magic House!
Being silly with dada.
“It’s mine, but you can have some…” (sharing song by Raffi, aka Scarlett’s theme song)
