Scarlett is 21 months old!
Hard to believe that in just 3 more months she will be two years oldš«
At 21 months, Scarlett…
Loves:
- Her stuffed animals! Bear is no longer the only favorite. Her entourage now consists of (but is not limited to) Bear, Meow, Bab, Mama Bunny, Baby Bunny, and Dada Bunny.
- Choo choo rides through the house in the laundry basket with every stuffed animal she owns
- Dancing–she even has a few signature moves, the chicken wing and happy hands
- Books
- Her Scarlett puzzle
- Being bounced on the bed to the tune of No More Monkeys
- Looking at pictures/videos of herself
- Mealtimes
- Music! Current favorite songs: Wooly Bully, Barbara Ann, Hello Dolly, Tutti Frutti, Sugarpie Honeybunch, Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, Wheels on the Bus, Ba Ba Black Sheep, ABCs
- Swinging
- Being bounced
Dislikes:
- Getting her diaper changed
- When you tell her no
- Being without at least one stuffed animal at all times
What’s New:
- Verbalizes her wants/needs and thoughts a lot more, i.e. when thirsty, needs diaper changed, hungry, notices when mama/dada doesn’t agree with something she did and will say “Mama/Dada sad”
- Recaps events after they happen or in anticipation of something she’s about to do. For example when going to or leaving the park will say what she will do/see or what she did/saw while there “Swings, seesaw, babies, geese” etc.
- Says “thank you” almost every time you give her something and “welcome” when you tell her thank you–still working on saying “please” consistently:)
- Throws more mini tantrums, most often when told no to something. Will often cry for the other parent when one has told her no in hopes of getting her way:)
- Vocabulary continues to increase almost daily it seems, as well as pronunciation of words
- Tries really hard to string more and more words together into sentences–has said up to 5 word sentences
- Picks up on more of the lyrics when singing along with songs
- Wants to try doing more things herself, such as buckling her high chair, putting the cap back on things, climbing on and off things, attempting to put on clothing or shoes
- Will say things on command more willingly
