Scottsdale, AZ: Scarlett’s Last Hurrah

We had such a nice time on our winter getaway to Scottsdale this January. It was our last family vacation as a family of three, and Scarlett had a blast!

Scarlett did great on the plane ride to Arizona, even though she didn’t sleep at all–too much excitement!IMG_3819IMG_3820 IMG_3822 IMG_3823 IMG_3824 IMG_3825 IMG_3826

When we got to the Montelucia, the bellboy told us it was currently rabbit season in Scottsdale (of course it was!) Our Bunny loved walking around and looking for the bunnies while we were there. There were a few patches of grass right outside our room that almost always had a bunny or two in the afternoon/evening for Scarlett to try to catch:)IMG_3827 IMG_3828 IMG_3829 IMG_3830

Dinner at True Food Kitchen our first night, one of our favorite places to eat when we visit. I think Scarlett likes it, too:)IMG_4004

Breakfast at Prado (the resort’s restaurant) our first morning.IMG_3832 IMG_3833 IMG_3834 IMG_3835 IMG_3836 IMG_3837

Scarlett wasn’t a fan of the hammock.IMG_4011 IMG_4012 IMG_4013

Then we went to the McDowell Sonoran Preserve for a short hike.IMG_4014IMG_4015IMG_4018IMG_4019IMG_4020

Ready for naptime.IMG_4021

A few pictures of the scenery before dinner at Prado.IMG_4022 IMG_4024 IMG_4025 IMG_4026 IMG_4027 IMG_4028 IMG_4029

These pictures sum up Scarlett during the trip–super pumped about everything! She was also happy that Bear got to come everywhere with her.IMG_3850 IMG_3851 IMG_3852 IMG_3854 IMG_3858 IMG_3861

Too sunny, dada! (not a bad problem to have)IMG_3863 IMG_3865

After breakfast, we set out for Papago Park and the Phoenix Zoo.

Looking at the elephant (ellie) at the Phoenix zoo. Even though it was a bit expensive (we’re used to our free zoo) we liked that we were able to see more animals in a short period of time, whereas the St. Louis zoo is pretty spread out.IMG_3866

Before the zoo, we did a short hike up the mountain at the nearby Papago Park.IMG_4032 IMG_4033 IMG_4034 IMG_4035 IMG_4036 IMG_4037 IMG_4038

For dinner that night we ate at True Food Kitchen again, and then stopped at the gelato shop next door afterwards for a yummy treat.

The next morning, we checked out of the Montelucia and met Uncle Dan and Aunt Rose out at the McDowell Sonoran Preserve again to take a few family pictures. IMG_3977 IMG_3983 IMG_3987 IMG_3989IMG_3975

Afterwards, we met Aunt Jeanine for lunch at a cute little spot on the golf course where she lives.IMG_3875 IMG_3876 IMG_3878 IMG_3880 IMG_3881

After lunch, we checked into the Phoenician, where we would be staying for our last night.IMG_4042IMG_3883

On our last day, we ate breakfast at the hotel and then took Scarlett to test out the baby pool. Unfortunately, she splashed herself in the face trying to get to mama, and didn’t want anything to do with the pool after that.IMG_3885 IMG_3886 IMG_3887 IMG_3888 IMG_3889 IMG_3890 IMG_3891

So we hung out by the pool, had lunch, and soaked up all the sun we could.IMG_3894 IMG_3895 IMG_4043 IMG_4044

After Scarlett’s nap, we checked out of the hotel and headed to the new Scottsdale aquarium. IMG_3897 IMG_3898 IMG_3899 IMG_3900 IMG_3901 IMG_3902 IMG_4045 IMG_4046

Scarlett would be a Gentoo if she was a penguin.IMG_4047 IMG_4048 IMG_4049 IMG_4050

After seeing the fishies, we stopped for an early dinner at our other Scottsdale favorite, Olive & Ivy, before heading to the airport.IMG_3903 IMG_3904

Watching the planes outside the window.IMG_3907 IMG_3908 IMG_3909

Scarlett loved riding in her car seat, until we got on the plane;)IMG_4051 IMG_4052

Our flight wasn’t until 7:05pm and I thought for sure Scarlett would fall asleep, but sure enough she didn’t! Luckily the flight was an hour shorter than the way there, and Scarlett did perfectly fine as long as she was entertained:) The nice flight attendant even gave us a model plane to make at one point, which Bunny enjoyed.IMG_4053 IMG_4054 IMG_4055

It was such a fun trip and one that I’ll always remember–just Mama, Dada, and our Bunny❤
