Scarlett is 20 months old!
At 20 months, Scarlett:
Loves:
- Bear (as well as “Meow” (cat) and Bunny)
- Her tent–she loves going in there to read books with mama/dada.
- Dog (calls “Dog! Comee (come here)! Teat (treat)!” and claps for him to come)
- Playing with her kitchen, puzzles, mega blocks, stuffed animals, rock collection
- Looking at “pickies” with Dada
- Eating
- When dada gives her treats
- Being bounced (especially to the tune of No More Monkeys)
- Making mama and dada laugh
- Doing new things
Dislikes:
- When she doesn’t have 95% of your attention
- When you eat something in front of her and don’t share it with her (impossible)
- Getting diaper changed at times
What’s New:
- Went peepee in her potty for the first time
- Vocabulary continues to increase and can say up to 4-word sentences (i.e. “I love you, Dada”,”Where are you, Bear?”)
- Can count objects up to 3
- Knows her colors–can put crayons away by color
- Knows basic shapes: circle, square, heart, star, triangle
- Can identify some letters of the alphabet
- When she had a cold recently, would say “nosey” to let mama know she needed her stuffy nose suctioned
- Pronounces words in a variety of ways to be silly–one of the first examples off this was her many names for Bear (bear, bea, bay, beayo, bah) but will also take ordinary words and say them with a variety of vowel sounds (i.e. “Away” becomes “awah, awee, awoo”
- Not something new but more prominent lately: seems to have a sense of humor beyond her 1.5 years–loves trying to make mama and dada laugh
Memories from Scarlett’s 20th month:
**Some of the best memories of this month are in the previous post, Scarlett’s 2nd Christmas! I didn’t want to post the same photos twice.**
She was excited about the arrival of her very own potty! Thanks Grandma H.
Making sure her animals get a chance to hear the ocean, too.
Scarlett’s tent was in the basement for a few months due to open house/showings. When we brought it back up, she was super pumped and wanted to put all her toys inside.
Play date with Claudia and Willa.
Bath baby.
Silly Bunny.
Having a miniature bunny and bear picnic at grandma and grandpa’s
First time trying sushi at Shogun after we went to see the reindeer in downtown Belleville.
Family choo-choo train
Mama went to a baby shower and brought back a paper flower for Scarlett to play with (destroy).
A month or two ago, I gave Scarlett a muffin tin and 7 balls to see what she would do when she realized she had one left over (she tried to put it in with another ball). I recently had to make cupcakes and Scarlett was playing with one of the muffin tins the next day and started sorting the balls on her own–but this time she went into the kitchen, into the cabinet, and brought out the extra muffin tins (that she saw mama put away) for her extra ball.
Fiding in the sleigh at Willoughby.
Playing at grandma and grandpa’s.
Reading her book.
Cute little sweater baby.
All ready to go see Santa.
Buddy popped one of Scarlett’s balls, so dada fashioned it into skullcaps.
Sharing dada’s cereal, even though she had just finished breakfast (a frequent occurrence).
At great aunt Joanne’s house for a Horvath family get-together.
Cool baby.
Transporting her beard and bunnies from one room to the next, one by one, and with great enthusiasm.
Barrel of monkeys.
Lunch at Whole Foods after mama’s doctor appointment.
Breaking open one of the geodes she got from Uncle Les for Christmas.
Babythoven
Building a cupcake skyscraper with dada.
Ready for vacation!
She loves her new name puzzle from grandma and grandpa A.
She found one of her baby blankets in her closet and carried it around for the rest of the day.
That Bear is so silly!
Scarlett loves going for rides in the laundry basket!
Reading with dada.
What an exciting month! We love you Bunny!
