I am 34 weeks old today!

 
This week I…

• Celebrated my first Christmas!  
• Got to play with cousin Liam while Aunt Jess was in town:)  
• Really into the p sound lately “p-p-p-p” (this isn’t a new sound, just been doing it more frequently) and saying ma-ma-ma when fussing
• Seemed to have another break from sore gummies this week
• Enjoying eating food more and more–seems to prefer veggies to fruits, unless mixed with yogurt which she loves

I had a great first Christmas!  

On Christmas Eve we went to Maggianos for dinner with the Horvath clan.
  

Then back at home, I got to open my very first Christmas present!

I put on my new Christmas pjs and read my new Christmas book, The Polar Express, with mommy. I was so excited! I could tell it was a very special night:)

Mommy couldn’t believe I listened to the whole story even though it was way past my bedtime! It took me awhile to settle down in my crib that night–so much excitement!

The next morning mommy sang the Whoville Christmas song “Welcome Christmas” to me when she came to get me from my crib (I am a Who after all). I helped mommy open her presents and took out all the cool stuff in my stocking before we headed over to grandma and grandpa’s house, where I would start opening my presents from Santa.

Then we went to grandma and grandpa’s to open presents.

After Christmas dinner, we came back home to finally open my presents from Santa.

I am 33 weeks old today!

  
This week I…

• Learned a new trick: clapping! [wpvideo TWCr44ll] 
• Daddy moved my crib mattress down because of this:   
• Got my own Christmas stocking   
• Finally had a break from sore gummies for a bit and I was in a great mood!
• Still working on my crawling skills

I am 32 weeks old today!

  
This week I…

• Am really working on my next trick: crawling! So far I’ve been “swimming”, scooting backwards on the wood floor, and rocking on my hands and knees. Mommy and Daddy are betting that I officially crawl by Thursday.  [wpvideo Fz1zYeuz]  [wpvideo WVxVkWip] 
• Have really been trying to pet Buddy and/or grab his fur
• Had very sore gummies:(
• Have been getting on my hands and knees while in my crib–mama & dada will have to lower the mattress soon  
• My favorite thing to say lately is “bababa”

I am 31 weeks old today!

  
This week I…

• Turned 7 months old!  
• Discovered a new trick: blowing raspberries (and I haven’t stopped doing it since!)  [wpvideo 8cU8LzjN] [wpvideo v93pM9HQ]  [wpvideo pfSYzaJh] 
• Started eating in my new high chair–I love it!  [wpvideo QSGHHjre]  
• Saw live reindeer for the 2nd year in a row (last year I was in mommy’s tummy)  
• Picked out a Christmas tree

Next stop was Eckerts to look for a Christmas tree.  

They also didn’t have any if trees left, but I got to see Santa. 

On the way home, daddy spotted some trees at a roadside farmers market, and sure enough they had the perfect tree for us!
   
   
It was a fun week!

Scarlett is 7 months old today!

At 7 months, Scarlett:

Weight/Height: Won’t know until 9-month check-up

Teeth: 2

Loves:

• Being held
• Rolling
• Babbling and squealing
• Being sung to–is loving interactive songs like Itsy Bitsy Spider and Patty-Cake
• Grabbing everything within her reach (hair, necklaces, faces, toys, books, everything within eyesight, etc)
• Blowing raspberries
• Bath time
• Her highchair
• Dancing with mama
• Kicking her legs
• Kisses
• Exploring new places–so many interesting things and people to look at!

Dislikes:

• Being sleepy
• Being confined to one spot for too long
• Buddy barking when someone is at the door
• Eating solids (apathetic–doesn’t hate them but isn’t too interested in them yet, mostly just enjoys chewing on the spoon)
• Stuffy noses and getting her nose suctioned
• Sore gummies

What’s New:

• Started consistently sleeping through the night two weeks ago from about 8pm-8:30am
• Started eating solids at 6 months, has tried: avocado, sweet potato, peas, spinach, applesauce, banana, carrot, pear. Not very interested in them yet, only eats a few teaspoons at a time
• Sitting in highchair to eat
• Blowing raspberries
• “Swimming”–lies on belly and flails arms and legs as if swimming (trying to figure out crawling)
• Can sit up for about a minute at a time before she flops herself backwards or sideways
• Making consonant sounds like “p-p-p-p”,”f-f-f-f”, “vvvvvv, “m-m-m”
• Whispering babbles to herself
• Will sometimes say “mamama” when she wants mama

Other Activity:

• Nurses 7-8x/day, majority of feedings <10 min, with one or two marathons (20+ min)
• Sleep: Goes to sleep around 8pm and wakes around 8:30am; Takes two solid naps each day, a short one (usually 1 hour) around 10:30 and a longer one around 2pm (usually lasts about 2 hours).

I am 30 weeks old today!

My 30th week was an exciting one! This week I…

• Took my first plane ride to Florida to visit grandma and grandpa Allsup!
• Working on my consonant sounds by saying “f-f-f-f” and p-p-p-p” and a bunch of other baby mumblings and babbles
• Reaching for everything and getting frustrated if it’s out of my grasp–still doing my “swimming” pre-crawling move–it’s not getting me anywhere though, so I just roll from side to side until I reach what I’m after
• Really starting to “fake cry” when I want mama and dada’s attention–they’re not really falling for it though since I laugh in between “crying” most of the time
• Sticking out my tongue has become a favorite pastime 
• Met mama’s oldest friend Maggie
